Millions of people are currently in hardship situations and rehabilitation stages of their lives and they are in need of short- and long-term assistance to help them obtain stability. They need employment and/or new skills to compete in a new economic climate.
In addition, drug abuse has increased during the economic downturn, negatively impacting our communities and society as a whole. Subsequently, the breakdown of these communities is having an adverse effect on our inner city youth and young adults. This breakdown manifests itself in the dissolution of the family structure, educational system and employment opportunities; all of which are failing this population of young people.
We at DIF are addressing these issues by developing financial solutions to cultivate economic and educational empowerment in these communities. Providing aid to each area of need simultaneously can cause a positive shift which can reduce unemployment and stabilize communities. By providing emergency assistance for those in immediate financial need, educational training for the unskilled, assistance to social service organizations and investment into community businesses, we intend to kick start a financial stimulus in communities of need.
